What is S-MSTA?

The Student Missouri State Teachers Association is your bridge to a teaching career.  It connects you to other education students in your school and around the state, give you an opportunity to network with professional educators and helps you prepare for a career in education.

With 38 chapters in Missouri and more than 2,400 member, S-MSTA is the per-professional organization for education students on Missouri college and university campuses.

 

The purpose of the local chapter is to provide its members with opportunities to:

* Grow professionally

* Develop leadership skills

* Understand the history, ethics and program of the teaching profession

* Participate in professional activities at the local and state levels.

 

Why should you become a member of S-MSTA?

Student-MSTA members are entitled to the same basic services as active MSTA members.

How much are S-MSTA dues?

At Missouri State, dues are $20 a year ($13 for state dues and $7 for chapter) Professional liability insurance in the amount of $2 million is included in the dues.

Liability Insurance

           A $2 million occurrence-based liability insurance policy is included as a benefit with membership to S-MSTA.  Liability insurance, REQUIRED FOR STUDENT TEACHING, enables you to feel more confident and secure in the classroom.

When you begin your teaching career, it's important to join a professional association.  MSTA, sponsor of S-MSTA, is Missouri's all-inclusive, independent, professional education organization.  It works with education groups in improve the profession.  With more than 42,000 members, MSTA provides professional growth, legal and liability protection, information, teacher welfare, and representation with state lawmakers and policy setters.
