What's Making News

4/21/08:

Tommy The Turtle- We will be conducting Tommy the Turtle to Hallsville Elementary school this Friday 4/25/08. If you're interested in helping please contact Andy Meyer or Laura Zirfas. We'll be teaching 126 students on Friday so come prepared with a good speaking voice.

4/15/08:

General Meeting- Don't forget about the last meeting of the spring semester today! It will NOT be held in room 436 where we usually have it. It will be at Amigo's Mexican Resturant on campbell. Click Here for a map and directions to Amigo's. A few of our BAB members will be joining us from FritoLay.

Officer Elections- Anyone interested in an officers position next year should apply online. We will have more information tonight or tomorrow on the application. An online vote will take place after all the applications are in. Please check back daily to be updated on this information.

4/14/08:

Officers- There is an officers meeting in the SIFE office tonight at 5pm. Don't forget about the general meeting tomorrow at Amigo's Mexican Resturant. If you need directions to Amigo's, Click Here for a map. We invited members of our BAB to join us for this rare food fest. Missing this event could mean you pick at free chips!

4/12/08:

Reminder- Remember that everyone needs to contact their instructors / professors to inform them you'll be taking finals early. If you plan on going to national competition, I would highly consider doing this asap.

National Competition- National competition will be May 13-15 in Chicago, IL. The Rally of Champions is on Tuesday with competiton rounds Wednesday and Thursday. For more information concerning national competition, click here to download the "Regional Champion Packet PDF"

Calender- We offically have dates set for two more projects, Freeze up and Tommy. Check the Calender for more information.

4/11/08:

Merchants Meeting- Just a heads up for the team working on Big Mamma's. We are going to attend a merchants meeting this upcoming week to make contacts with other owners on Commercial Street and talk about our current project with Big Mamma's. The meeting will be at Big Mamma's in their back room. I do not have information on the date at this time but our GA does. Please check the Calender located under MSU SIFE for updates.

4/10/08:

Tommy the Turtle- Tommy the Turtle has offically been set. We are to do this project April 25, 2008. Please check the Calender under MSU SIFE for more information. You can also e-mail Andy Meyer for more information concerning travel and times.

Nationals- Wow it seems like yesterday we presented in Atlanta. Anyhow, regional competition is now OVER! All the teams have been chosen for nationals which is to be held in Chicago. If you're interested in seeing the results from all the competitions, Click Here to be directed to SIFE HQ.

Presentation Team- This is not just for presentation team but for ANYONE who wants to attend nationals. You have to have the points to attend. We constructed a list of project items to be dealt with before nationals.

4/8/08:

Missouri State SIFE makes headlines- Just incase you forgot to pick up the standard today...We made headlines once again for our win in Atlanta. Click here to read the article.

SIFE Runway- SIFE Runway is a project put on by Ozarks Tech SIFE. The project is actually a fashion show that teaches college students how to properly dress for a job interview. They have contacted us to help them conduct the project at Missouri State. This project WILL happen by the end of the month but it still in the planning stages. We need all of the help we can get. Please contact Amy Ferriss or Andy Meyer.

Tommy The Turtle- TTT&F will probably more than likely will happen April 25th, 2008. Please check the calender located under MSU SIFE in the navigation bar. We will be traveling to Hallsville Elementary School located 5-10 miles north of Columbia, Missouri. Please check back for more updates. The date is not set in stone yet. There is also more work to be done on TTT&F. For those of you needing points, this would be a great way to earn some.

OTC SIFE will be holding their annual Exellence in Business award that will be awarded to Bill Turner, Chairman of the board of Great Southern Bank. The event will be held Friday, April 11, 1:30-3:00 p.m. in OTC's Information Commons Room 100. Light refreshments will be served.

4/7/08:

Web site update: There is now a Calender section under MSU SIFE that will help our BAB, Sam Walton Fellows, and members know the times and dates for meetings, projects, and other events SIFE will hold.

The About section has also been updated to include information about Missouri State SIFE. Check it out!

4/6/08:

There will be an officers meeting tomorrow in the SIFE office @ 5pm. We will be setting dates and discussing improvements.

For those of you who didn't notice the Missouri State University web site, we made headlines! SIFE Team Wins Regional Competition. And we also made headlines with the Office of the Provost- MSU SIFE Team Regional Competition. As well as The Standard-MSU club awarded for projects

Web site update: I'm sure you all have noticed improvements to the web site. I will be adding a members area very soon where members can log points, have access to a forum, submit project ideas, and get notes from meetings. Each user will have a user name and password, this will probably be your private id and password for msu. Check back for updates!
