Canoe/ Kayak camp list:

Clothing:

-         Feet;

o       Something that is neoprene recommended, sock or shoe

o       If needed can use wool or fleece sock, then put plastic bag around it, then shoe over that.

o       Where shoes that dry quick and are not heavy

-         Body: While Paddling;

o       Be sure and layer!

o       As a base layer neoprene recommended, better to do two piece instead of one piece

o       Sub in a polyester, or even wool base layer if needed.  You can use long under wear, or a basic fleece pull over or pant would work.

o       You might want a thin light weight next to skin wear before base layer. No Cotton!

o       Over the base layer you will want something water resistant, even water proof.  If you have a rain suit, gore-tex or something similar, that will work.  If not an inexpensive pvc or vinyl rain suit would work just fine.

-         Head and Hands;

o       Make sure to have a stocking cap, neck gator or scarf.  This will help keep you warm if cold!  You may want a hat also for keeping sun or even rain out of face.

o       Bring a pair of non-cotton gloves, if you get really cold hands mittens are much better.  Also bring disposable hand warms are great, also work with feet.

-         Body: At camp;

o       Bring something comfortable, extra socks, and shoes as well. Just keep in mind packing size of items, space may be limited.  It might not be a bad idea to have extra hat, gator, and gloves (in case things get wet during the day.).

-         One of the best things to wear to help keep warm is your PFD!

Storage:

-         Dry Bags;

o       They are very nice to have and keep things dry (for the most part).  If you do not have dry bags using the double trash bag method inside a duffle or backpack can work just fine.  Also 5-gallon buckets with lids are good.

o       Some things do not need dry bags like tent poles, tent stakes, water bottles, cook sets, etc.  These can just be put in regular bags.
