Founded Again for the First Time!

The Epsilon Psi Chapter of Kappa Kappa Psi was originally chartered in November of 1970. The original "Petition for a charter in Kappa Kappa Psi" can be found below. The 1970 chapter continued on for a few years until a small asteroid came down and sadly took out all the members of the chapter while they were in the middle of a meeting.
As the previous statement implies, we’re not to sure how the first 1970 chapter died out. Based of the records we do have, it appears that after the founding year the chapter struggled to attract new members. This undoubtedly led to problems as the founding fathers graduated, eventually leading to a chapter that was likely to small to even hold quorum. We’re still not sure what led to this lack of recruitment, possible reasons include: lack of interest from the program in the fraternity, a change in directors leading to a sharp decline in the number of bandsmen, and the list goes on.
In 1998 our chapter was rechartered and has remained active since. So far we’ve never had a problem with having low membership. Rather, a few times we’ve actually had the opposite problem with our fraternity growing so large that many sub-groups formed within the fraternity, leading to tension between the brothers. Fortunatly, through good leadership, we endured and have become a stronger brotherhood and have learned to be more selective in who we honor with the title “brother”.
