India is a country with rich cultural heritage. It is a land where a montage of faiths, cultures, customs and languages blend harmoniously. The Indian Student Association tries to bring out the rich culture of India to Missouri State University and its Campus community as well as Springfield community. Indian Students Association (ISA) is a non-profit student organization established with the purpose of promoting awareness of Indian culture, providing opportunities for social interactions and to showcase India as a nation.
Our mission is to educate the university community about the dynamic and vibrant culture, traditions, religions, and arts of the Indian sub-continent through cultural programs, social events and also to allow students of Indian origins to explore their ethnic heritage and disseminate their knowledge and experience to the community at large. ISA has also tried to give the opportunity to students to understand American culture and its ways to prepare them for the future. As a fledgling organization, ISA has successfully conducted social and cultural exchanges through potluck parties, movie nights, Games night, sports, participation in the International Banquet and for the first time ever conducted an evening of Indian cuisines and perofrmances showacing Indian dance forms and traditions. Song, Skit, Dance and food are the highlight of this evening.
ISA plans to organize gatherings to promote participation of students from diverse ethnic groups and enrich each student, faculty and other Indian with experiences and support. We also plan to closely associate with other student organizations of the University and contribute more to the local and global community. As students and future responsible citizens, we would like to get involved in charitable and noble causes.
