Volunteers of the Month Showcase

Working to eliminate substandard housing in the Springfield-Greene County area is an initiative that demands a great deal of hard work and a good amount of money. The MSU Chapter provides volunteers at build sites, advocates for Habitat issues, and fundraisers for finance projects throughout the year.

The MSU Chapter relies on its members to work to better the world by starting with our local community, so that together we can extend a helping hand to those in need.

The following individuals have demonstrated with their service what it means to realize the mission of Habitat for Humanity.

January 2010: Victor Pierce

Volunteer of the Month: Victor  Victor was a vital member our organization in the fall semester, assisting numerous fundraising events and helping to staff our Bear Build kickoff and World Habitat Day program. He regularly attended meetings and was always willing to dedicate his time to support our efforts. He has continued this dedication at the start of this semester, despite having a night class during our biweekly meeting times. He still signs up to volunteer at fundraising and advocacy events--with his help, we are truly building hope. Thank you Victor!

February 2010: Tyler Hendrix

Volunteer of the Month: Tyler  Tyler is a Junior, majoring in Construction Management. As soon as Tyler joined our organization, he was quick to dedicate his time and energy to our cause. He became our "go-to" guy for our Ovations Fundraisers, and because of this dedication, we have finally met our monetary goal to receive the 2009-2010 State Farm Matching grant! In reward for his efforts, Tyler has recently been appointed to the position of Material Acquisition Chairperson for the 2010 semester, and we are hopeful he will continue this leadership next year. Thank you Tyler for all that you have done and all that you will continue to do!

March 2010: Chris Lucas

Chris served as Historian this semester, volunteering his time and energy to document this semester's build. He also regularly attended meetings and fundraising events, and even volunteered to attend our Action Planning session to lay out goals for this coming year. Thank you Chris!

April 2010: George Salacky

George has been an integral part of our chapter this semester. He has volunteered at numerous fundraisers and build days, while also envisioning and coordinating a few of his own! We look forward to having George as the 2010-2011 Secretary!
