The Warren L. Weeks scholarship is given to encourage individual members in developing their leadership skills and in furthering fraternity goals.  It is a tribute to the memory of an outstanding teacher and insurance industry leader.

Until his death in 1973, Warren L. Weeks, CPCU, was a driving force behind Gamma Iota Sigma.  He is credited with creating the idea of a national professional insurance fraternity.

He was the first President of the Grand Chapter, and a Vice-President and Trustee of the Griffith Foundation.  He fostered and encouraged the fraternity through his association with Ohio State University, where he was an instructor of multiple-line insurance classes.  He served the local community as a principal of the Weeks-Finneran Insurance Agency, established in 1958.  He served on the board of directors of the Ohio Casualty and Surety mangers.  He also authored articles that appeared in insurance industry publications.  Gamma Iota Sigma became a reality because of the efforts of Warren Weeks and we owe him a great debt of gratitude.  It is fitting that we honor him with this scholarship.

Each year, local collegiate chapters are given the opportunity to nominate a member for this scholarship.  The scholarship recipient will be announced, and the $350 check presented, at the Annual Management Conference in the Spring.
