Fraternity at Missouri State votes to Follow Institution Name Change As many are aware, Missouri State University will be changing its name on August 28, 2005 to Missouri State University. How does this effect most student organizations? Honestly, not very much, but for the Delta Chi Fraternity it does. Internationally, Delta Chi names its chapters after the institution where it is chartered. The members have the option to retain its Southwest Missouri title, but recently voted in a chapter meeting to follow the changing name of Missouri State and become the Missouri State Chapter of Delta Chi. This change waits approval from the chapters Alumni Board of Trustees and Housing Corporation, as well as from the governing Board of Regents for the Fraternity. “I see no hesitation from any of our boards for changing our name,” said Travis Weathermon, President of the Fraternity, “We asked for their support before we took action on the change.” Delta Chi Fraternity takes highest ranking in Fraternity Grades The scholastic achievements of the Delta Chi Fraternity have earned them a very prestigious title: First in Grades. The men collectively reached a 3.12 Overall GPA, defeating Theta Chi and Sigma Phi Epsilon for the title. This position also adds great stature to the chapter, for they have also earned a combined GPA higher than the All-Male GPA, as well as all Fraternity's. The men of the Delta Chi Fraternity have worked extremely hard to reach this position since coming back to campus in 2002 and earning their charter back in September. |
