1.         Introduction

Members and guests were welcomed to the first AITP meeting of the semester.  President Traci Merrill gave a brief introduction of AITP to potential new members. 

2.         Membership

Membership applications were passed out.  The cost of membership is $45, $35 is national dues and $10 is chapter dues.  Membership applications can also be picked up and returned in the CIS office.  Tracy informed the group that meetings are generally held the first and third Wednesday of each month. 

3.         Resume Books

Students were reminded about resume books. The cost is $15 and the deadline is Wednesday, September 17.  Resumes and submissions forms are to be turned in to the CIS office.

4.         Computer Day

Computer Day will be held on Wednesday, October 1.  A sign-up sheet was passed around the room to solicit volunteers for computer day activities.

5.         Panel Discussion

The September 30 panel discussion was announced.  The panel will consist of several employers from computer day.  Panel members will answer various questions about the IT industry, interviewing, and employment opportunities.

6.         Next Meeting

Our next regular meeting will be held on Wednesday, September 17.  This will be an opportunity to further discuss computer day, learn about volunteer positions, and sign-up to assist.

7.         Web Site

Traci informed the group that our chapter website is located at http://studentorganizations.missouristate.edu/aitp/   On the site, students can find various information, such as resume book information, meeting schedule, and meeting minutes.  Our webmaster Sarah Hogg will be performing the updates throughout the semester.

8.         Guest Speaker

Marjorie Wieland, director of Career Services, presented information about resume writing.  She discussed some guidelines for resumes and provided students with several examples and handouts.  In addition, Marjorie answered various questions asked by students.  Marjorie concluded by informing students about services offered by Career Services.

9.         Closing Remarks

Dr. David Meinert, our AITP chapter faculty sponsor, ended the meeting with a few closing statements.  Dr. Meinert reinforced the benefits of becoming an AITP member.
