Association of Information Technology Professionals
In keeping with the AITP Mission Statement, we are now accepting volunteers for a help network of AITP members to foster the success of Computer Information Systems majors here at Missouri State.
Below you may read of some of the benefits of use and
participation, as well as some of the constraints of the network.
Goal
The goal is to provide a network of
volunteers that
consists of AITP members that may be called upon to help students succeed
in the CIS curriculum.
Benefits
The benefit to the students who use the network will be the
availability of peers on an as needed basis for courses in the CIS
curriculum. The result will be the success of students
in their classes.
The benefits to those who volunteer to
join the network are the improved
ability to communicate programming, design and analysis, and other
information system concepts, as well as keep the concepts "fresh in
their mind". An additional benefit will be the ability to list
participation in the network on the volunteer's resume, showing that
they not only participated, but that they also care about the success of
others. All volunteers must be a member of AITP.
The benefit to the department will be the production of high
quality graduates which will reflect favorably upon the CIS program at Missouri State.
Constraints
It is not the purpose of the network to provide a physical location.
Face-to-face meetings will be the prerogative of the volunteer.
The reason for this is in order to be as successful as possible, a
person wishing to use the network must be able to find someone that has
taken the specific class with which they need help. This simply
cannot be provided with a high success rate by a person sitting in a
room waiting for students to come to them with questions.
It is not the purpose of the network to provide a "simple solution" for
problems using a particular software. The aim is to aid students
in learning concepts and more complex problems addressed in their
classes (ie. programming structures and concepts, debugging techniques,
systems analysis and design problems).
Disclaimer
AITP is merely the provider of contact information that has been
submitted by those who have volunteered to provide their assistance to
CIS majors. The help you may receive is obviously provided at no
cost and the quality of the help you receive is not under the control of
AITP. Feedback can be sent to
aitp@missouristate.edu or you
may fill out the
feedback form. If sufficient
evidence is provided to warrant such action, a
volunteer may be removed from the list.
Precautions
All students that use the network or volunteer to be a participant
should fully understand the
Missouri State Academic
Integrity Policies and Procedures.
